Everyone needs a self care Saturday routine. A time to relax, unwind, and forget about the stress of the weekday. It’s also a great time to recenter, refocus, and to get back in balance.
I love giving back to and replenishing myself on the weekend after having given sooo much throughout the week. We all work sooo hard and are deserving of taking the time to give back to ourselves at the end of the week.
As I prepare to reveal certain key things I do to love and care for myself on the weekend, I encourage you to find ways to give back to yourself as well. Find an amazing routine that makes you smile and that brightens your day and refreshes your life.
The following list is 3 things that I do as part of my self care Saturday routine:
Every Saturday I take a vitamin packet, probiotic, and a fish oil. These supplements leave me feeling my absolute best and supply me with the maximum health and energy I need to sustain me and allow to perform at my best throughout the week.
The vitamins I take are very potent, so I only need to take them twice a week (Saturday, Sunday). They contain the typical A to Z vitamins with lots of B vitamins and some extra special supplements as well like resveratrol, CoEnzyme Q10 and green tea extract. These antioxidants help with weight maintenance, anti aging, and energy! In addition, the fish oil is amazing for brain and skin health. And the probiotic tops it all off by taking care of my gut health.
Well, I know its’s cliche’, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets the tone for the rest of the day and provides you with the proper fuel and nutrients. Throughout the week, I eat a simple grab and go breakfast, usually a banana. The main reason for this being that time is a factor before work, and I’m usually not that hungry really early in the morning.
But on the weekend, I treat myself and allow myself a yummy, yet healthy breakfast. It could be a scrambled egg on a whole wheat English muffin, or a bowl of oatmeal topped with blueberries, nuts, and agave syrup, or honey and a little pat of butter. I really take the time to savor it, eat it slowly, and mindfully. I rest comfortably in the knowledge of knowing it’s not only delicious, but good for me.
And I have to be honest, my real guilty weekend breakfast pleasure lately is an iced green matcha latte. Wow…it is sooo good, lol! And although the version I drink contains too much sugar, there are a lot of health benefits in matcha. These benefits include being really high in antioxidants, immunity boosting, and helping to improve your focus and overall sense of calmness!
I love to work out! To be honest, it’s one of my absolute most favorite pastimes!! And as I’m sure most of us know, the benefits are amazing. Not only is it amazing for our overall health and fitness, but it’s an amazing way to boost your mood, energy, and brain health. I love feeling my heart rate raise and the blood actively flowing throughout my body! When it’s all said and done, I’m like a new person! It keeps me feeling youthful, strong, sexy, and powerful!
After working so hard and working up a good sweat, the absolute best way to reward yourself and to relax and unwind is a hot, steamy bubble bath. It’s the perfect way to soothe those sore muscles, destress, and to forget about the cares of the week.
To really amp up the experience, in addition to an amazing bubble bath brand that produces lots of bubbles, add in some Epsom salts and some lavender essential oil. This will take you to the next level of luxuriousness. The Epsom salts will ease your achy joints and the lavender essential oil will aid in the relaxation and de-stressing process!! It’s like an at home spa!!
Life is not always easy. Sometimes it can be very crazy and hectic. You deserve to make time for you to refresh and give back to yourself! So take some time for self care today!!
